The Whitmore Brothers take revenge on the rail road by robbing a train of $100,000.  Ernie is killed, Harry gets caught and Jed goes West and disappears.  Fifteen years later, Harry is released from prison and goes looking for Jed and the money.  Cooper Smith escorts beautiful young Patsy Lewis, Harry Whitmore, Marv Jennings, and newspaper man William Carr to String Town, home of famous Sheriff Frank Lewis.

Beautiful and spoiled Geneva Balfour is from a wealthy Boston family.  She continually complains about the hardships and dangers of traveling West and begs her husband Aaron to take her home. While throwing one of her tantrums, Geneva’s actions endanger the entire wagon train.   Duke Shannon searches to find provisions while Chris Hale struggles to keep control and hope among the travelers.

Grover Allen works in a clock factory and day dreams of travelling West.  When his nasty boss George Duskins finds Grover is late for work again, he fires him.  Grover devises a plan to get even and heads West with his daughter-in-law Della and grandson Jeff.  When a trader named Will Stebbins joins the train and hands out newspapers from back East, Grover worries his past will catch up with him.

Scouting for the train, Bill Hawks and Duke Shannon are helped by Duncan McIvor to fight off an Indian attack.  Bill and Duke are grateful and invite McIvor to travel with the wagon train.  Duke discovers merchants selling stolen army supplies to the travelers.  Duke and McIvor search for the merchants and investigate who is behind the thefts.

Santiago Quesada is a legendary vigilante who ruthlessly massacres entire Indian villages.  His actions cause several tribes to join together in retaliation against all whites.  Cooper Smith is escorting Kim Case to her Uncle Jim Case in San Saba and finds they are in the center of the conflict.

Chris Hale calls the town of Stark Bluff a den of iniquity and routes the train to avoid it.  Hale sends Duke Shannon to get the mail and pick up any possible travelers.  While in Stark Bluff, Duke finds arson, murder, slavery and more all orchestrated by Zeb Stark who runs the town and the law.
