Princess Ling takes a liking to Coop because he bears an uncanny resemblence to her late husband, Terence O'Rourke an Irish sea Captain. She offers to adopt him, provide him with a chinese bride and bequeath him all her riches. (Robert Fuller also plays the part of Terence O'Rourke the Irish sea Capt).

Meanwhile Coop seems intent on proving her right and appears to want to hurt the daughter to get at her mother.

While scouting in the desert Coop rescues prospector John Cain, who is lost and near death from exposure. Cain is so grateful that he he offers to sell shares in his goldmine to the travelers. When he changes his mind Coop fears reprisals from the disappointed people.
