In 1961 Robert Fuller visited Japan to oversee the opening of a Laramie Friends Club which was founded with the objective of doing charitable work for orphans and children’s hospitals. Everyone joining the club had to contribute one dollar and on opening 90,000 people joined raising $90,000. The inauguration was held in the Tokyo Sports Gymnasium and 10,000 people attended.
