Robert Fuller is Jess Harper  - drifter and gunman who arrives in Laramie on the trail of an old friend who robbed him.

Following Laramie, Robert went on to star in 2 more major television series, Wagon Train and Emergency. He also starred and co-starred in  some great movies including the sequel to The Magnificent Seven - Return Of  The Seven. He enjoyed continued success until his retirement in  2001. Robert now lives with his lovely wife Jennifer at their ranch in Texas.

The role of Jess Harper created such an impact that 47 years after Laramie ended, he was asked to play the part of Texas Ranger Wade Harper in an episode of Walker Texas Ranger. Wade Harper was created as the great grandson of Jess Harper.


In 2021 - 20 years after he retired Robert still has over 5,000 members in his international fan club

Hoagy Carmichael is Jonesy - an old family friend who lived and worked on the Sherman Ranch

Hoagy Carmichael was a hugely successful musician, composer and singer before joining Laramie. During his run in Laramie his musical talent was used a number of times usually having him sing and play piano. He composed the song Marry Me In Laramie for episode 2 Glory Road.

He was undoubtedly a vital part of the initial success of the show, with his character Jonesy balancing between the hot headed Jess and the level headed Slim, and also helping to bring order into the Sherman household.

 He left the show after Season 1 and legend humourously states he was more enthusiastic about playing golf than playing Jonesy. Whatever the reason he will always be considered an asset to the show and was missed.


Hoagy Carmichael died 27th Dec 1981 aged 82 following a heart attack.

John Smith is Slim Sherman - Owner of the Sherman Ranch and Relay Station.

 John Smith was already an established star when he took on the role of Slim Sherman in Laramie, with appearances in over 40 movies and TV shows including co-star billing in the TV western series Cimarron City.


As a result of his very successful career he received numerous awards including The Cowboy Spirit Award from the National Festival Of The West, A plaque on the Kanab Walk Of Fame and a star on the Texas Trail OF Fame in Fort Worth Texas.

John Smith died on 25th January 1995 at the age of 63.

He leaves behind a body of work that is a lasting legacy to a talented and dedicated western star.

Robert Crawford Jr is Andy Sherman - young brother of Slim Sherman. He was a boy looking for independence and adventure.

Robert Crawford launched his acting career at the age of 12 and quit at the age of 24 after a short but successful career. He was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1959 for the Judgment at Nuremberg (1956) episode "Child of Our Time"

Robert featured in season 1 of Laramie but was rarely seen in season 2. He finally left the show after season 2.

After Laramie Robert went onto college. Up to 1988 was working behind the camera on films like "The Sting" and "The World According To Garp". Robert Crawford Jr now can be seen attending film festivals where he meets his loyal fans. In 2019 he joined Robert Fuller and Dennis Holmes in the city of Laramie to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their iconic TV series.


Spring Byington is Daisy Cooper - Housekeeper at the Sherman Ranch

Spring was a very successful actress with a long and varied career spanning almost 40 years prior to joining Laramie. She has 2 stars on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame - 1 for movies and 1 for television. She was nominated for 1 Oscar, 2 Emmys and 1 Golden Globe

She had a warm and enchanting personality which shone through her many performances and she was a natuar;l for the role of Daisy Cooper in Laramie.

She replaced Jonesy as the calming influence in the Sherman house and provided the wisdom the "Boys" sometimes lacked.

Spring Byington died on 7th Sept 1971 of cancer.

 Dennis Holmes is Mike Williams - orphan found by Slim and Jess and taken in to live at the ranch

While having a short acting career of just 7 years Dennis Holmes was extremely successful child actor. His resume included a whole bunch of great westerns including Bonanza, Restless Gun, Wagon Train, Tales Of Wells Fargo and The Virginian. He was a great addition to the Laramie cast and will long be remembered for his portrayal of young orphan Mike Williams.

Dennis has attended Film Festivals in recent years and in 2019 joined Robert Fuller and Robert Crawford Jr in Laramie to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their ever popular TV series.


 Stuart Randall is Mort Cory - Sheriff of Laramie

Stuart Randall was superb as Mort Cory and gave great support to the main stars of Laramie.

He appeared in over 140 movies and TV shows and he continued working up until 1971. His last appearance appears to have been in an episode of Alias Smith and Jones.

Stuart Randall died on 22nd June 1988 aged 78.

 Eddy Waller is Mose Shell - Stage driver and friend of Slim and Jess

Eddy started his career in Vaudeville and theatre before making the move to movies in 1929. During his career he established best part of 300 credits in movies and television, many of these being in westerns. He had a thriving career when he took over the role of Mose Shell who was featured in all 4 seasons of Laramie - the only person other than John Smith and Robert Fuller to do that.

His final appaerances were in Wagon Train, Laramie and Lassie.

Eddy Waller died 20th Aug 1977 of a stroke.
